Home Science Department
The Department of Home Science was started in the year 1959 with the mission of empowering
traditions and enriching aesthetic sensibilities among girl students through introduction of the subject of
Home Science as one of the undergraduate courses. After successfully running B.A. Home Science for a long time,
the department spread its wings and introduced the course of B.Sc. Home Science in the year of 1995.
Aims:
Understand and appreciate the role of interdisciplinary sciences in the development and well-being of individuals, families and communities.
Develop professional skills in food & nutrition, textiles, housing, resource management, product making, communication technologies and human development.
Understand the sciences and technologies that enhance the quality of life of
Acquire professional and entrepreneurial skills for economic empowerment of self, in particular, and community in general.
Take science from the laboratory to the people.
