REPORT OF THE DEPARTMENT

Sports in an integral part of our college. The Institution leaves no stone unturned to encourage the young girl students to participate in sports activities. Most of our students belong to rural area and our faculty members take keen interest in unleashing the hidden talent of these girl students. It is due to the dedication of our faculty members and their intensive coaching programmes that our students have come with flying colours at the District, State and All India University level.

At the onset of the academic year, the Physical Education Incharge along with the Principal and Sports Committee plans the schedule of the events to be organised and the same also draw up a layout of purchase of Sports material and equipment and the tournaments in which the institute will participate. To assess the potential of the students, students are selected for participation in various events and then they are trained to represent the college at various levels. The College has got the distinction by winning prizes at the University level. Our College Baseball and Kabaddi team has remained at the winning position in the University Inter College Tournament for many years. To hail the winners, the college provides College colour and track suits to all the sports girls.

The girls playing at University level, State level and at College level are encouraged and are honoured on the Annual Sports Day with medals and certificates. The photographs of the winners who have won laurels are published in newspapers. Further, the department is making sincere efforts to provide the essential facilities to the young sports girls. The existing facilities will be upgraded in the near future with the help of UGC and the department has already submitted a proposal in this regard.

Keeping in view, the above mentioned details, we can firmly say that sports are indispensable for the holistic development of body, mind and soul and this is aptly depicted that “ A healthy mind lives in a healthy body “
