National Assessment and Accreditation Council

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council(NAAC) was established in 1994 as an autonomous institution of the University Grants Commission (UGC) with its Head Quarter in Bengaluru. The mandate of NAAC as reflected in its vision statement is in making quality assurance as integral part of the functioning of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The NAAC functions through its General Council (GC) and Executive Committee (EC) comprising educational administrators, policy makers and senior academicians from a cross-section of Indian higher education system. In addition to the statutory bodies that steer its policies and core staff to support its activities, NAAC is advised by the advisory and consultative committees constituted from time to time.
In pursuance of its Action Plan for performance evaluation, assessment and accreditation and quality up-gradation of institutions of higher education, NAAC proposes that every accredited institution should establish an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as a post- accreditation quality sustenance measure. To promote measures for the institutional functioning towards quality enhancement through internalization of quality cultural and institutionalization of best practices, Govt. College for women, Rohtak established IQAC in the year 2011. As the quality enhancement is a continuous process, the IQAC works towards the realization of goals of quality enhancement. It plays a vital role in development of a system of conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement in the holistic performance of the institution in all its academic and administrative efforts. IQAC ushers quality in assessment and accreditation by taking up latest initiatives and planning new strategies and deploying these towards the attainment of the higher objectives/goals of the institution for excellence.
